2010 LaVerkin Royalty Crowned
2010 LaVerkin Royalty Crowned: Daniela Stackhouse, Miss LaVerkin; Christanda Drake, 1st Attendant and Miss Congeniality; Audrey Stevens, 2nd Attendant
The 2010 LaVerkin Princess Pageant "Hoe Down Happenin'" was held on March 6th in the Hurricane High School Auditorium. Seven lovely young ladies competed for the titles and crowns denoting royalty positions. Ashley Stackhouse, daughter of Mitch and Daniela Stackhouse, was crowned Miss LaVerkin 2010, performing an outstanding vocal solo "Have You Ever Been In Love". 1st attendant was awarded to Christanda Drake, the daughter of Michelle Drake. Audrey Stevens, the daughter of Tracy and Rebecca Stevens was named 2nd attendant. Drake was also crowned Miss Congeniality. Stackhouse was given the pageant director award, and Hollyann Gubler received the prize for Most Photogenic. Talent and Poise awards were given to Ashley, with Interview and Introduction awards going to Christanda.
The pageant is open to girls who have been residents of Washington County for 6 months prior to the pageant, and are residents of LaVerkin between the ages of 14 and 18. The event was staged by the 2009 royalty and their parents, and was a beautiful presentation. The outgoing royalty performed their special number from the Washington County Fair princess performance, and showed a power point presentation of their year-long activities. The 2009 royalty - Princess Brooke Gubler, 1st attendant Audrey Stevens, and 2nd attendant KC Gubler - has represented LaVerkin City well this past year. The city expresses gratitude to them, their parents -Leon and Teresa Gubler, and Tracy and Rebecca Stevens- and their families for their work and gracious service to the community.
Thanks to the sponsors of the pageant and all those who made the event possible. Sponsors include Farmer's Market, Dr. Hugh Howard DDS, Backstreet, Roadrunner Automotive, ACE Hardware, SnowKaps, Hot Shot Images, and Desert Rose Floral. Others who helped with the pageant include Nicole Stout (Poise), Margie Samuelson (Interview), Montana Jolley (Makeup), Jill Cotton (Hair), Martha Gubler (dance), June Jeffery (Talent), Lisa Gardner, LaVerkin City, Hurricane High School, Steamrollers, Wade Beatty, McKenzie Drawe, and Andi Behunin.
The new royalty is a very talented group and will be a great asset to the city. They have a big year ahead of them, representing the city at the Washington County fair, supporting the city in festivals and city events, other parades and festivals - representing the city throughout the area. The girls will also participate in service projects of their choice throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for growth as well as a great honor. LaVerkin congratulates Ashley, Christanda, and Audrey on their awards and looks forward to another great year!
