Hugh Howard was recognized by the Mayor & City Council as being one of La Verkin’s outstanding citizens. He has served the community in many capacities and has most recently composed a song about the history of La Verkin. It is expected that the City Council will adopt the song as the official song for the City of La Verkin.
The 4th graders from La Verkin Elementary planted two trees in the City’s new Power Plant Park on Monday May 10th. Each student from the three fourth grade classes took and accepted the 4th Grade Forester Pledge. Thanks to the teachers, Mr.

On Wednesday April 7th Officer Nick Nuccitelli was recognized by the La Verkin Ctiy council in the City Council meeting: On December 30, 2020 Officer Nuccitelli was on duty during a call for an overdosed male. The male’s family had called 911 to report their adult son was unconscious and had possibly overdosed on illegal narcotics. Officer Nuccitelli's swift and competent actions on December 30, 2020 resulted in the man receiving lifesaving assistance through the administration of department issued Naloxone and in so doing, exhibited a high level of professionalism that was shown during a high stress situation.
The La Verkin City Council was presented with a special valentine at the city council meeting on February 17th. La Verkin Elementary School second graders sent the giant heart filled with personal Valentines to the La Verkin City Council thanking them for all their hard work and service to the City of La Verkin. On Wednesday January 13th at our City Planning Commission Meeting, Anna Andregg was recognized by Mayor Hirschi for her years of service to the City of La Verkin. Anna has lived in La Verkin for over 20 years and has been involved with the City for 18 of those years. She has been currently serving on the La Verkin City Water Board as well as working as the Chairman of the La Verkin City Planning Commission.
Ashley Averett was selected La Verkin City Employee of the Year for 2020. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation at the City Council Meeting, January 25, 2021. Ashley has worked for La Verkin city for over 27 years.
In the City Council meeting September 16, the Mayor & Council decided on a name for our newest city park which will be called "Power Plant Park". There were many great possible names that were submitted for consideration, but they decided on Power Plant Park. The Council left open the possibility of some time in the future when money is available putting up a kiosk of some kind and having a little history of the park along with those land owners and other people who played a part in Confluence Park.
