POLICE OFFICER

The City of La Verkin is seeking a full-time police officer to work for the La Verkin Police Department. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet all the following minimum qualifications:  

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.  
  • No Felony Convictions  
  • No DUI Convictions in the past two (2) years  
  • No illegal drug use in past five (5) years  
  • No Marijuana use in the past two (2) years  
  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Valid Utah driver’s license
  • Must possess Utah P.O.S.T Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) certification, or be P.O.S.T. certifiable, in good standing
  • Ability to pass a physical agility test

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time position with salary range of $38,000 to $56,000 per year depending on experience.  10 hour shifts with every other weekend off.  Benefits include: city paid retirement in the URS system, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, monthly HSA contribution by city; (13) Paid holidays per year, 12 sick days, and start with 1 week vacation time; paid military leave; paid gym membership.  All necessary equipment purchased by the department.  La Verkin City has a take home car policy and would require the officer to live within 40 miles of the City limits.

Pre-Employment Screening:

Prior to a final job offer, the successful candidate will be asked to participate in a Physical Fitness Test, drug screen, and may participate in a mental health screening and truth verification examination. The candidate will also have an extensive background check. This would include a review of financial/credit history, criminal history and character. The successful candidate will have no criminal convictions for domestic violence, moral turpitude, or violent acts, and no bankruptcy filings within the last five years.
